I love this low calorie Easy STIR-FRY SPICY BEEF WITH SHRIMP Recipe.  Among my easy stir fry recipes , this easy stir fry beef recipeis one of my favourites. This stir fry recipe is not only very easy to do, it also has low calorie.  It is very delicious and nutritious too... you won't even know it's low calorie.

Let me explain some of the ingredients that you might not be familiar with.

Oyster Sauce

In cooking Chinese food, you should always have a bottle of oyster sauce. Oyster sauce is a special brew of oysters, soya sauce and spices and most contain modified cornstarch as a thickener. Oyster sauce gives a unique flavour and often used in Chinese cooking. You can get it in most Chinese and Asian markets or, even in your local grocery stores in the soya sauce shelf.

Bok Choy (Chinese white cabbage)

This recipe calls for bok choy which might not be available in your local market. Bok choy is sold as mature vegetable and young "baby" ones, which I prefer. Crunchy in texture and slightly bitter in taste, it has a thick white stem bordered by dark green leaves.

Important health benefits that have been associated with consuming Chinese white cabbage include its abilities to aid in healthy digestion. It's also high in vitamin-A, vitamin-C, beta-carotene, calcium and dietary fiber. This leafy vegetable is low fat, low calorie, and low carb and also contains potassium and vitamin-B6. Some of the vitamins found in this super vegetable are also powerful antioxidants, and the rich amount of beta-carotene in this super vegetable can help to reduce the risk of certain cancers and reduce the risk of cataracts. It's also an excellent source of folic acid and can also contain other healthful nutrients like iron, depending on the soil where it was grown.

If bok choy is not available, substitute Napa cabbage, Savoy cabbage or young kale.

Shaoxing Rice Wine

This rich, mellow-tasting rice wine is used widely in Chinese cooking and is available in Chinese and Asian markets, although you'll sometimes have to ask for it as it is kept behind the counter. Dry sherry makes a fair substitute.

Cooked Rice (Optional)

Most Chinese foods are eaten with rice but rice adds calorie to your meal. For low calorie diets, do not include rice.

Enjoy!
